    Persacon 2007

I got back from Persacon in Huntsville, Alabama last night--and boy, are my arms tired!

A lame joke? Yes. But seriously, flapping my arms and flying there myself might have been the easier way to go...

I was originally scheduled to fly out of L.A. early Thursday morning and get into Huntsville that afternoon. Fortunately, I got a call to come in and do a voice-match audition for a really exciting project--which unfortunately had to occur on Friday morning, or not at all.

I called the con and explained what had come up, and after much worry about what sort of changes we could make at the last minute, I got booked for late-night flight out of LAX on Friday that would include a layover in Cincinnati and get me into Huntsville at about half past nine Saturday morning.

Well...the 12:45 flight out of L.A. was delayed by almost two hours, which led to me missing my connecting flight to Huntsville. The quickest way into Huntsville was now via Atlanta rather than a straight shot from Cincinnati, so I took it. Got to Atlanta, ran across the airport because my flight was leaving in 20 minutes and the shuttle was down...and found out the plane we'd be taking into Huntsville hadn't even arrived yet, let alone departed.

Anyhow, my adventure ends with me stumbling off a plane in Huntsville at 5:30 p.m., feeling like a modern-day Odysseus. I got to the con, though, and had a great time for the next 23 hours, when I had to head back to the airport. From touchdown to take-off, I was there 24 hours.

But, if ever there was a con for which to jump through such crazy hoops, Persacon is the one. Three years ago, they were the first convention to ever extend me an invite, and have had me back ever since. Between the sentiment factor and how good everybody down there--staff and attendees alike--has always been to me, I'm really glad I didn't have to end up missing it. I only wish I could have had more time with everyone.

Speaking of, I mentioned it at closing ceremonies and should mention it again here: If anybody at Persacon wanted something signed and couldn't snag me during my day there, e-mail me and I'll get something to you.

Also, if anybody has photos from the con they think I might enjoy, feel free to forward them (or the appropriate links) to me. With how chaotic my Friday turned out to be, I forgot to pack my camera.
