« Fare thee well, 2006... | "Tales of Phantasia" is practically upon us...! »
January 07, 2007One week into 2007; so far, so good...
I wrapped up work on "Saiyuki Reload Gunlock" last week, and as is so often the case, it's a little sad when it comes time for the character (Hazel, in this case) and I to part ways. He was such a self-righteous son-of-a-bitch--a zealot, really--and getting to throw the accent into the mix just made him all the more fun to portray. I have volumes four and five of "Saiyuki Reload Gunlock" now, but I haven't popped them into the DVD player yet. I enjoy getting to see how my scenes turned out after the fact, when I don't have the pressures and the immediacy of recording them coloring my perceptions of my takes, and I'm looking forward to getting to check out everyone else's performances in the show, but I can be such an unforgiving arbiter of my own work--whether it's acting, script adapting, or ADR directing. And in a sense, that's good. I don't ever want to be complacent. That said, though, I need to lighten up on myself sometimes. Ideally, I'd be just as diligent in recognizing my good moments as I am in spotting my weaker ones...
