Finally home for more than just a few days...!
It really is feast or famine with me sometimes. Usually a homebody by nature, I just knocked out three anime cons (Tsubasacon, Anime Reactor and Youmacon) and two just-for-fun trips in the space of five weeks. Don't get me wrong--I'm not complaining. I met a lot of fun folks and caught up with a few friends I hadn't seen for a while, but I'm ready to be home for more than three days at a stretch! I'm heading off to Anime USA in a few weeks, by which point I'm sure my travel batteries will be fully recharged and I'll be rearing to go.
I'll post some pictures from the last month at some point. It's just a matter of me obtaining the photos--my camera is on the vintage end of the spectrum, so I usually rely on the photographic kindness of those whom I can pester later for copies--and then having the gumption to post 'em.
That said, I did post some headshots Robert Farley Jr. was kind enough to take of me while I was in West Virginia for Tsubasacon early last month. They're a few samples from a more extensive photoshoot. He did awesome work, and I'm pleased as punch with them. They'll serve as my commercial/theatrical headshots, once I've had copies made--and, just as importantly, they replace the scandalously antiquated headshots I used to have posted on the site.

Geneon recently announced the release date for the "Tales of Phantasia" OVA dub I directed--January 16th. Speaking of "Tales of Phantasia," one of the attendees at Youmacon last weekend had me sign the base of her Dhaos figurine, which was the first of its kind I'd seen. I was excited, to say the least. Her friend and she hit the dealers' room the next morning and bought more "ToP" figurines, hoping they'd luck out and they'd land another Dhaos for me, but there weren't any left. Terribly sweet of them to try, though--and now that I know a Dhaos figurine exists, I'll buy one off of eBay. I shouldn't, but I can't not. Never voiced a character who got his own figurine, if that explains/excuses any of my perhaps inordinate glee...
I beat "Valkyrie Profile 2" a few nights before I headed off to Youmacon, marking the first time I've actually beaten a game I worked on. I got to the very last boss in "Romancing Saga," but wasn't strong enough to finigh him off, and I lacked the 1337 flying skills to get through the second-to-last level of "Ace Combat Zero" (I stand by my opinion that subterranean tunnels just weren't intended for jet travel). I will admit, I did have to turn to the internet to scare up advice on the last fight in "VP2," but I was able to get through it on my first try once I did. Having beefed up my character to sick, sick levels sure did help. :)
Hellsing Ultimate. Sure, I'm gonna get de-legged and devoured again, but Luke Valentine's going to be a damn fun character to revisit. Not sure when it'll hit the shelves, but I'm heading into the booth for that soon.
I've been spreading the good word of Paradise Kiss at the cons I've attended recently, and the reaction to the dub screener has been consistently positive. I'm looking forward to the first DVD's release next month--and hoping folks will think I've done George justice. He's not my usual sort of character, which makes him an added delight to play, but sailing seldom-traveled waters means you sometimes don't know where the reefs are waiting to take out your hull.
My character has finally arrived on the scene in "Saiyuki Reload Gunlock"--Hazel, the demon-hating priest with the resurrection mojo-power. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing how it came out. This is the second time I've voiced a man of the cloth who was at odds with the good guys, the other time being Saint in "Amazing Nurse Nanako," my very first VO job.
Eureka 7: I missed almost all of the episodes that featured him, but the stretch of the series in which Charles Beams appears has come and gone on Adult Swim. Sometimes not having TV can be a detriment...
