Cue the Sally Field impersonation...
The first volume of "Kamichu!" landed two online awards for the month of June--for best overall dub, and Megan Harvey (Yurie) as best VO actress.

I'll post to the more detailed results once they're up on AnimeOnDVD.com
Congratulations to my cast, engineer, and mixer!

My Guitar Hero exploits--illustrated!
While at PersaCon this last June, I decided to try my hand at Guitar Hero (which I'd never played or observed, but about which many of my friends had raved), and stayed up literally all night trying to beat it.
Now, thanks to Sarah White and Chip Self of Cardboard Comic, the epic chords of my Guitar Heroism shall live on, resonating within the hearts and Jungian collective subconsciousness of mankind FOREVAH!

I struck that pose in the first panel more often that night than I'd care to admit!

"Bleach" casting announced at Comic-Con...
I didn't realize this had been announced until a few guys I met at Persacon this year e-mailed me tonight to congratulate me, but it looks like the cat is officially out of the bag about some of the initial "Bleach" English dub cast, including my having been fortunate enough to snag the role of Isshin Kurosaki, the main character's rather manic father.
For the uninitiated: The "Bleach" Wikipedia entry.
Isshin's relationship with his teenage son Ichigo is...tempestuous, shall we say?

ConnectiCon, AX and "Ergo Proxy"...
I was supposed to be a guest at ConnectiCon this weekend (I'd be flying back home right now, as a matter of fact), but a really tight work deadline descended from the heavens and smote me with its page-a-day calendar o' righteousness, so I had to cancel on them. I felt terrible about it, as I was really looking forward to the con, as well just generally hating having to flake out on people. They were awesome and understanding about it--which I'm totally thankful for, but which makes you feel all the worse for having to miss out on spending the weekend with such affable folks.
I did manage to make it to Anime Expo for one day, though--last Sunday. I ran into a bunch of folks I knew, which seems impossible given the huge turnout. It's a good thing folks pipe up when they spot me; I'm so absentminded I'll walk right by a close friend and not even notice them until they call out after me or tap me on the shoulder.
I even ran into one of the students I knew from my days as a teacher at Notre Dame, and she said there were others in attendance:
"No glasses? No uniform? How did this happen?"

"No, I hate Scott Stapp--why do you ask?"
On a non-con-related note, it's been announced online (and at one of the AX panels, I believe) that I've been slated to voice Raul Creed in the English dub of "Ergo Proxy," which is just as stylish and dystopian and sci-fi as a person could want. It's a lot of fun, I'm going to get to play with some awesome VO actors, and I can't wait to see what happens in the 2/3rds of it I haven't watched yet. The show has a definite "Blade Runner"/cyberpunk vibe to it, although neither of those is a totally apt way of describing it.
