    We had our Chamber Singers

We had our Chamber Singers concert last Saturday night, and it went pretty well. We were responsible for memorizing half of our songs, which had me stressed out. In fact, it wasn't until the other uber-bass and I got together the night before the concert for a memory-enhancing session of pizza, sangria and sheet music that the lyrics to the most perniciously elusive song finally stuck in my brain.

We cleaned up good, and sang to beat the band!

With that concert out of the way, all that stands between me and a carefree summer is another 40 pages of screenplay, another 40 pages for playwriting, an edit of my first 40 pages in playwriting, a 20-page essay for my independent study class, and grading 60-odd essays.

And, actually, that carefree summer might not be the halcyon three-month chunk o' dandelion wine I had quite expected. In the last 48 hours, I found out A) that my car is basically on its last legs, B) I won't be teaching summer school at my old high school (which sounded like it might happen), and C) my financial situation for next school year is nowhere near as rosy or secure as I had originally thought.

My friend James and I are fixing to sell t-shirts and whatnot on our respective sites, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Buy early, buy often!

    "fixing to sell t-shirts"

that is such a southern phrase! wouldn't expect a californian to say something like that lol!

As for A, my friend Christen's bf drove a 1985 toyota camry since sophomore year. He had this car completely "pimped" out (big sound system, lights everywhere, glow in the dark steering wheel cover, etc). Despite the fact that it will break down on the road at least once a month, he refused to give up on it until someone else bought him a '95 corolla for a pretty cheap price ($1800 i think it was). B, summer school sucks anyways, you get either the snooty genius kids who want to get ahead, or the flunkies who need to re-take classes. There's little to no middle ground.

As for C, keep your chin up, the sun will come out tomorrow :)

Nice pic, you look pretty suave in that tux.

Don't procrastinate now. There's only three weeks left in the quarter and that sounds like just enough work to keep you busy till the end.

Sorry to hear about all the bad news. It sucks that your car is trying to go belly-up on you. I'd help you out by selling you mine, but A) I'm not sure if you'd even want it or not, and B) I've technically still got another year till I can get a new one of my own. It's a 1999 Hyundai with only 30,000 miles on it. It's mainly used for school and work, which is why the mileage is so low. Unfortunately, according to the plan, I won't be getting a new car till I graduate next Spring.

And about the summer school teaching job...what's up with that? It sounded like a sure thing for the summer. Oh well, don't worry too much about it. I'm sure something will turn up this summer, and it'll probably be better anyway. =)

Since you mentioned selling t-shirts and all, does that mean the artwork is finally done? That's cool! You know, you should start a "Save the starving student, actor, director, writer, etc. foundation". Just let us know where to send all those checks and money orders. And hey, if I get that internship I talked about in my last email, I'll be making more than enough dough to throw a couple bucks your way. ;)
