"Goooooin' to the chapel and we're gonna git maaaa-aaaa-aaaarried..."

So, Mitch Bugajsky and I took a trip to San Francisco this weekend, and...

    Yessir, that's my baby...

    Tada! Newly-sanctioned marital bliss!

Actually, that's just a picture from the New Year's Eve party that I've been meaning (and forgetting) to post. Besides, Mitch is getting hitched in a few months--to a woman, no less!--so it never would have worked out between us.

Y'know, here's a great way for the so-inclined straight folk to support gay marriage and crank the media spotlight up a bit, while further pissing off the rightwing: two straight men should go to SF and get legally married, while announcing their straightness.

Speaking of which: ever hear the phrase "Boston marriage?" It's a 19th Century term, I think; referred to widowed middle-aged women who lived together because they couldn't afford not to. The historical record seems to indicate that these women were lesbian couples, everyone knew it and no one cared. True, they weren't really married, but the little detail that the het community at the time used the word marriage without sarcasm puts a bit more of the lie to the idea that there has always been something sacred about the term.

Oh, BTW -- where are you and Mitch registered? And don't think that as soon as cities and corporations realize Marriage = Big Bucks, they won't be chomping at the bit for the chance to double their business...
